With the quick pace of the 21st century, being busy is a job all by itself. Burning ourselves out is almost a profession! We should always find moments to be still and silent for occasional reflection. To bend our thoughts back to our ‘First Cause,’is a lifelong process that gets easier the more we practice Freemasonry, for, it will train us to attune intimately with our Being. Our Inner Ruler, that was never born and have been with us and will continue to be with us, after this material experience, as electricity rules the cosmos; likewise, the Right Worshipful Master rules the lodge. This lodge is our physical body, which is our temporary habitat or our interim sleeping quarters.
In Conclusion, what causes a bulb to burnout in the first place? The filament oxidizes and oxidation is the process when oxygen combines with an element, changing the appearance of the element, which becomes more and more brittle, until it breaks apart and the bulb goes out.The physical world has the power to change our true appearance and make us brittle,so make sure you’re always in tune with and reflect on, your true nature, as this will keep your light on!
We’re all familiar with the personification of death, the Grim Reaper! An imagined force as a skeletal figure, carrying a large scythe or sickle and clothed in a black cloak… which first arose in 14th century England. But there’s another analogy; death also represents being born a new person, being able to see clearly and to transform all the attributes that keep us from elevating our energies.
When the inquirer knocks at the door of the temple, get ready for reaping. Grain is cut-down when it is ripe, the VSL states: “And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, thrust in thy sickle, and reap:for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” So, I ask again, are you ripe for Freemasonry? Are you ready and mature enough to face yourself? Are you ready for some action or effect to show itself to you? Are you willing to work on your own harvesting?
The Old Charges of the masons’ lodges were documents describing the duties of the members, part of which (the charges) every mason had to swear on admission. The poem begins by describing how Euclid “counterfeited geometry” and called it masonry, for the employment of the children of the nobility in Ancient Egypt. The manuscript was dated to 1390.
Two extracts are of particular interest: Yn that onest craft to be parfytte; And so uchon schulle techyn othur, And love together as sister and brother In that honest craft to be perfect; And so each one shall teach the other, And love together as sister and brother. Articulus decimus. The thenthe artycul ys for to knowe, Amongst the craft, to hye and lowe, There schal no mayster supplante other, But be togeder as systur and brother, Yn that curyus craft, alle and som, That longuth to a maystur mason. Tenth article. The tenth article is for to know, Among the craft, to high and low, There shall no master supplant another, But be together as sister and brother, In this curious craft, all and some, that belongeth to a master mason.
However, it should be noted that not everyone agrees with these interpretations of the Regius Manuscript.
I suggest, reading the translation from The Very Wor. Bro. the Reverend Neville Barker Cryer Past Grand Chaplin, a Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Surrey, Past Master and Past Secretary of Quatuor Coronati Lodge No 2076 E.C.
The science of yourself is a very important part in Freemasonry. There is a plethora of knowledge inside of its walls, but the most important part is the contents of your own temple. If you look at the etymology of the word “SCIENCE,” we will find that it is “knowledge (of something) acquired by study, (12c.), from Latin scientia ‘knowledge, a knowing; expertness,’ from sciens (genitive scientis) ‘intelligent, skilled,’ present participle of scire ‘to know,’ probably originally ‘to separate one thing from another, to distinguish,’ related to scindere ‘to cut, divide,’ from PIE root *skei- ‘to cut, to split,'” so, what are we splitting, dividing and knowing? ONTOLOGY!, metaphysical science or study of being, from the physical body to the invisible (spirit/soul) parts of our real nature. The study of yourself is a science in systematic observation, experiment, and reasoning*. Our rituals serve a purpose, and this is just one of them. This study is a life-long research, unlocking the doors to who and what we truly are.
Science, since people must do it, is a socially embedded activity. It progresses by hunch, vision, and intuition**. You are now probably thinking about metaphysics, which is defined by the Encyclopedia Britannica as “a philosophical study whose object is to determine the real nature of things. From the ancient Greek language it means ‘what comes after physics.’ Metaphysics therefore, deals with matters falling beyond our present understanding of science***.” It also examines things falling outside the scope of the physical senses; things such as intuition, psychic experiences, spiritual healing, and wherever possible, it provides plausible though not scientifically rigorous explanations as to how these processes work, as well as what their ultimate nature and purpose is. It was the phrase used by early students of Aristotle to refer to the contents of Aristotle’s treatise on what he himself called “first philosophy.” A common set of claims on behalf of metaphysics is that it is an inquiry into what exists; its business is to subject common opinion on this matter to critical scrutiny and in so doing, to determine what is truly real***. While you are studying YOUR OWN UNIVERSE (Y.O.U.) you will need curiosity and imagination just to name a few. The most important thing or subject/entity to study in this cosmos is YOURSELF, because you will be with yourself, for eternity.

We become humble students throughout our lives. When we enter Freemasonry we are reminded of this fact. It comes as a shock to many, the teacher that teaches the humble student isn’t an outside entity. Before I focus on my point, let’s look at the etymology or true sense of these words.
We all come to know that knowledge makes us humble, it shines light into the dark corners of our mind and reveals what we don’t know. Humble means to bend, kneel, or bow. A student is someone who is studying to become a teacher, a teacher in training. A teacher, shows the way and train you for the way.
Our very own Soul, will transmit to us and train us,for what we need for this incarnation. The mystic will contemplate these teachings that can’t be read, bought or sold. This process builds upon the last lifetime, until illumination is received by the humble student.
Popular opinion says,”NO WOMEN IN FREEMASONRY!” Well, that have not always been Masonic Law… Let alone a ‘Ancient Landmark’ (prehistory is considered ancient). Just because we’re born into an ideology, that doesn’t make that ideology true in history. Besides, “No Women!” is not in the Old Constitutions.
(See: York Manuscript No. 4, Operative Masonry, Works of Christine de Pizan and Halliwell Manuscript)
Mystical societies did include the other pole of being a human being. In the 17th century, enlightenment salons provided a place for WOMEN and MEN to investigate important questions while in a patriarchal society. Women were also governors in salons which included Madame du Deffand, Madame Necker, Jeanne Julie Éléonore de Lespinasse to name a few. A woman who went by the name of ‘THE MOST HIGH’ was Hypatia in the 4th century who taught geometry, philosophy, astronomy and metempsychosis. Other women who taught metempsychosis include Pythais and Theano. Another venerable woman was ‘The Light of the World’ Esclarmonde the Great.
In Conclusion, each individual Mason will have to do their own digging to get a peek of history, then formulate their own personal view once they focus their eye on the full puzzle and then the truth shall be!
The inquirer eventually will change into the candidate; if all is in order with the lodge and if the members and inquirer see and feel a good fit. This is also an inner process on both parts, for “something” has to spark the questioning process.
Freemasonry has the power to change the willing candidate. If the candidate is ripe, the change will take place as a natural seamless process.
First of all, let us understand the word ripe; one who have arrived at such a stage of growth or development as to be ready for eating, or one who has an urge to feed the soul. To be completely matured.
When speaking of change; one can see, something different from what is…to vibrate at another level. Subtle changes are all around us. From the changes of the seasons, the earth rotates on its axis in its orbit, our skin cells rejuvenate and a multitude of other minor and major developments in nature, which also includes humanity.
The candidate within their Masonic Career will stay a candidate since there are always more degree’s and experiences.
Let’s look deep inside the word candidate, which is a derivative of the Latin “candidus” (shining white) Or to shine. Eventually, the candidate will emit light, as the ancient hermeticist said “As above, so below, As within, so without!”
This ability to emit light will not happen all at once or from the beginning for most….because; I believe, we get “Aha moments,” later down the road in our career staying in sync with the motto “As within,So without,” in other-words, as the light from the Sun take eight minutes to travel from the orbs center of the planet Earth; perhaps, it takes time for a specific experience to illuminate our minds in Freemasonry.
In Conclusion, we will never know or have gnosis, about this phenomena unless we start the process from the inquirer to the candidate.
We are introduced to this concept of service daily through business dealings, philanthropy and different kinds of charities, although for myself, the first kind that comes to my mind is the contribution or service the mother gives for the well-being of the child. I think the ancient forms of initiation were propagated to full fill this specific need in nature.
Some of us have evolved past torturing another human being and asking the victims to produce their GOD. In the 21st century, we now do it in different ways, in other words; we torture others by our egos flourishing, untiled!!! Keeping us in a state of darkness, to blot out the light, which is a stage of consciousness. We’re still divided and scattered not thinking about the “All Watchful Eye” that is omnipresent. We cannot see it or touch it, but it works through the physical world by the way of our bodies and all living things. Like the fetus inside the mother’s womb, she is there, but the fetus is still blind to her.
The International Order of Freemasonry for Men and Women, Le Droit Humain charges every member to practice using his/her speculative working tools in our daily lives, which in turn makes us operative as we use them to contribute to our triangles, lodges, federation and society by expressing our souls by-way of being a servant. I see it as a person employed to “work” within The Great Architects Universe. Freemasonry can serve the candidate by instructing him/her by first “working” on themselves, which is in step with the ancient maxim of “Man, Know Thyself And You Shall Know The Universe” and within that process, you will be working “to the Glory of The Great Architect of the Universe” which is being the witness of the Creator And/or “to The Perfection of Humanity” the state of Being Free. It takes time and practice to remember how to be guided from within, but the soul will always retrieve what was lost. Each step you take, you will receive confirmation only you can decipher, as you continue to listen to subtle messages. As an onion is peeled, you will eventually remove layers that no longer serve you, but serve others and The Great Architect of the Universe.
There are many ways to make the connection that have Freemasons expressing harmony, brotherly love, relief and truth world-wide. The new candidate will learn how to get the correct frequency to experience the sublime within them. This rate of frequency can only be experienced for a brief moment, as spoken by many mystics, and many indigenous cultures throughout human prehistory. Basically, you are becoming aware of your surroundings that was already there, but hidden in plain sight. I call it an art because it is another way to say, it’s a representation of reality that we become aware of. For an example, many members of Le Droit Humain, that searched for the light and have been members for decades, had to hit the correct frequency to become aware of it…To shine their light upon it. I like the word “frequency” because it is being in-tuned with the teachings of the Order. In my opinion, some will tune-in or harmonize with members and our triple motto of Liberty:. Equality:. And Fraternity:.(body, mind, spirit) And some will not. Just as we tune-in to different groups, we also tune-in and tune-out different people, radio or tv stations; it’s all dealing with vibrations and energy. One vibration is not better than the other per-se, “it’s just is!” Nowadays, we can’t understand “just is!” we have to label things good or bad, negative or positive, which are subjective mental constructs.
As we build strong circuits in our Federations, Jurisdictions, and Pioneer lodges we try to tune-in through the practice of meditation, as we inhale we activate the logos, our twelve centers and sooner or later master and feel the subtle energy that comes from our autonomic nervous system. Freemasonry is just one way we get to know ourselves and the more we tune-in, we unite men and women in Humanity as we Progress. As we raise a column in our temple to give it strength, we also have to expand our consciousness to give us wisdom, in other words; we are the black dot in the center of the circle and our consciousness is what’s around the circumference expanding and the thrice greatest Hermes or Tehuti said it like this: “Close your eyes and let the mind expand. Let no fear of death or darkness arrest its course. Allow the mind to merge with Mind. Let it flow out upon the great curve of consciousness. Let it soar on the wings of the great bird of duration, up to the very Circle of Eternity.”
In ‘Universal Principles part 1′, I laid the foundation to a small portion of the hermetic wisdom, which consist of ‘Mentalism or Mental Transmutation’ (also described as Mental Alchemy, which refers to the art of changing and transforming one’s own mental states and conditions. The ‘Principle of Vibration’ states that motion is manifest in everything in the universe, nothing rests, and everything moves, vibrates, and circles. The ‘Principle of Polarity’ says that everything has its opposite and all truth is but half truths. The ‘Principle of Rhythm’ embodies the swing backward and forward and then we have,’ Cause & Effect’ or every effect has a spiritual seed that is nourished to sprout a specific effect and it explains that there is a cause for every action, and a spark for every cause. Lastly, ‘Gender’ which manifest in everything and on all planes. ‘Mental Gender’ described as a hermetic concept which relates to the masculine and feminine principles. It does not refer to the physical gender of someone; nor does it suggest that someone of a certain physical gender necessarily has the same mental gender. Ideally, one wants to have a balanced mental gender. The three hermetic religious and philosophical doctrines are ‘The Corpus Hermeticum’, ‘The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus’, and ‘The Perfect Sermon’ and a less known one is ‘Discourse of Isis to Horus’.
The study of these teachings have been encapsulated in the human being for centuries. These principles can be found in a little book that goes by the name of ‘The Kybalion’. A book written in 1908, claiming to be the essence of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, published anonymously by a group or person under the pseudonym of ‘The Three Initiates’. The Kybalion first published in 1908 by the Yogi Publication Society and is now in the public domain, and can be found on the web. The book purports to be based upon ancient Hermeticism. The book early on, making the claim that it makes its appearance in one’s life when the time is appropriate and includes variations of material found in the book of proverbs. Freemasonry is on the same tree of brotherhood and is just one custodian of this wisdom. These principles can be unveiled with each initiate at his and or her proper time of advancement. Do not be the one of many, that will put a cap on top of their evolution; as they cut off experiences of divine proportions because they have been told it isn’t possible to transmute base metal into gold.
