The Secretive Masons

“An Irishwoman was the first female to break the glass ceiling of the ultimate old boys’ club. The tradition lives on in the one freemasonry order open to women as well as men.”

More Light: Today’s Freemasonry for Men and Women

Book Link

“This is the as yet untold story of Freemasonry for Men and Women. Although in existence since 1893 no book in the English Language has yet been published on the subject. In it, we will tell the story of Freemasonry particularly Freemasonry for men and women we will explain what liberal Freemasonry is; that it is far removed from the boring boys club image…”

Handbook of Freemasonry

Handbook of Freemasonry – Henrik Bogdan & Jan A. M. Snoek (Click for book)

The relatively short-lived Grande Loge Symbolique Ecossaise (glse), which brought together the most

progressive Masons of its time. It was this Grand Lodge to which the lodge Les Libres Penseurs belonged,

which initiated the feminist leader Maria Deraismes in 1882, resulting in 1893 in the creation of what is

now the mixed masonic order Le Droit Humain.

No Women!

Popular opinion says,”NO WOMEN IN FREEMASONRY!” Well, that have not always been Masonic Law… Let alone a ‘Ancient Landmark’ (prehistory is considered ancient).  Just because we’re born into an ideology, that doesn’t make that ideology true in history. Besides, “No Women!” is not in the Old Constitutions.
(See: York Manuscript No. 4, Operative Masonry, Works of Christine de Pizan  and Halliwell Manuscript)

Mystical societies did include the other pole of being a human being. In the 17th century, enlightenment salons provided a place for WOMEN and MEN to investigate important questions while in a patriarchal society. Women were also governors in salons which included Madame du Deffand, Madame Necker, Jeanne Julie Éléonore de Lespinasse to name a few. A woman who went by the name of ‘THE MOST HIGH’ was Hypatia in the 4th century who taught geometry, philosophy, astronomy and metempsychosis. Other women who taught metempsychosis include Pythais and Theano. Another venerable woman was ‘The Light of the World’ Esclarmonde the Great.

In Conclusion, each individual Mason will have to do their own digging to get a peek of history, then formulate their own personal view once they focus their eye on the full puzzle and then the truth shall be!

The Candidate Changes

The Candidate

The inquirer eventually will change into the candidate; if all is in order with the lodge and if the members and inquirer see and  feel a good fit. This is also an inner process on both parts, for “something” has to spark the questioning process.

Freemasonry has the power to change the willing candidate. If the candidate  is ripe, the change will take place as a natural seamless process.

First of all, let us understand the word ripe; one who have arrived at such a stage of growth or development as to be ready for eating, or one who has an urge to feed the soul. To be completely matured.

When speaking of change; one can see, something different from what is…to vibrate at another level. Subtle changes are all around us. From the changes of the seasons, the earth rotates on its axis in its orbit, our skin cells rejuvenate and a multitude of other minor and major developments in nature, which also includes humanity.

The candidate within their Masonic Career will stay a candidate since there are always more degree’s and experiences.

Let’s look deep inside the word candidate, which is a derivative of the Latin “candidus” (shining white) Or to shine. Eventually, the candidate will emit light, as the ancient hermeticist said “As above, so below, As within, so without!”

This ability to emit light will not happen all at once or from the beginning for most….because; I believe, we get “Aha moments,” later down the road in our career staying in sync with the motto “As within,So without,” in other-words, as the light from the Sun take eight minutes to travel from the orbs center of the planet Earth; perhaps, it takes time for a specific experience to illuminate our minds in Freemasonry.

In Conclusion, we will never know or have gnosis, about this phenomena unless we start the process from the inquirer to the candidate.

ServiceWe are introduced to this concept of service daily through business dealings, philanthropy and different kinds of charities, although for myself, the first kind that comes to my mind is the contribution or service the mother gives for the well-being of the child. I think the ancient forms of initiation were propagated to full fill this specific need in nature.

Some of us have evolved past torturing another human being and asking the victims to produce their  GOD. In the 21st century, we now do it in different ways, in other words; we torture others by our egos flourishing, untiled!!!  Keeping us in a state of darkness, to blot out the light, which is a stage of consciousness. We’re still divided and scattered not thinking about the “All Watchful Eye” that is omnipresent. We cannot see it or touch it, but it works through the physical world by the way of our bodies and all living things. Like the fetus inside the mother’s womb, she is there, but the fetus is still blind to her.

The International Order of Freemasonry for Men and Women, Le Droit Humain charges every member to practice using his/her speculative working tools in our daily lives, which in turn makes us operative as we use them to contribute to our triangles, lodges, federation and society by expressing our souls by-way of  being a servant.  I see it as a person employed to “work” within The Great Architects Universe. Freemasonry can serve the candidate by instructing him/her by first “working” on themselves, which is in step with the ancient maxim of “Man, Know Thyself And You Shall Know The Universe” and within that process, you will be working “to the Glory of The Great Architect of the Universe” which is being the witness of the Creator And/or “to The Perfection of Humanity” the state of Being Free. It takes time and practice to remember how to be guided from within, but the soul will always retrieve what was lost. Each step you take, you will receive confirmation only you can decipher, as you continue to listen to subtle messages. As an onion is peeled, you will eventually remove layers that no longer serve you, but serve others and The Great Architect of the Universe.

There are many ways to make the connection that have Freemasons expressing harmony, brotherly love, relief and truth world-wide. The new candidate will learn how to get the correct frequency to experience the sublime within them. This rate of frequency can only be experienced for a brief moment, as spoken by many mystics, and many indigenous cultures throughout human prehistory. Basically, you are becoming aware of your surroundings that was already there, but hidden in plain sight. I call it an art because it is another way to say, it’s a representation of reality that we become aware of. For an example, many members of Le Droit Humain, that searched for the light and have been members for decades, had to hit the correct frequency to become aware of it…To shine their light upon it. I like the word “frequency” because it is being in-tuned with the teachings of the Order. In my opinion, some will tune-in or harmonize with members and our triple motto of Liberty:. Equality:. And Fraternity:.(body, mind, spirit) And some will not. Just as we tune-in to different groups, we also tune-in and tune-out different people, radio or tv stations; it’s all dealing with vibrations and energy. One vibration is not better than the other per-se, “it’s just is!” Nowadays, we can’t understand “just is!” we have to label things good or bad, negative or positive, which are subjective mental constructs.

As we build strong circuits in our Federations, Jurisdictions, and Pioneer lodges we try to tune-in through the practice of meditation, as we inhale we activate the logos, our twelve centers and sooner or later master and feel the subtle energy that comes from our autonomic nervous system. Freemasonry is just one way we get to know ourselves and the more we tune-in, we unite men and women in Humanity as we Progress. As we raise a column in our temple to give it strength, we also have to expand our consciousness to give us wisdom, in other words; we are the black dot in the center of the circle and our consciousness is what’s around the circumference expanding and the thrice greatest Hermes or Tehuti said it like this: “Close your eyes and let the mind expand. Let no fear of death or darkness arrest its course. Allow the mind to merge with Mind. Let it flow out upon the great curve of consciousness. Let it soar on the wings of the great bird of duration, up to the very Circle of Eternity.”

Universal Principles II

In ‘UniverHermeticssal Principles part 1′, I laid the foundation to a small portion of  the hermetic wisdom, which consist of ‘Mentalism or Mental Transmutation’ (also described as Mental Alchemy, which refers to the art of changing and transforming one’s own mental states and conditions. The ‘Principle of  Vibration’ states that motion is manifest in everything in the universe, nothing rests, and everything moves, vibrates, and circles. The ‘Principle of  Polarity’ says that everything has its opposite and all truth is but half truths. The ‘Principle of  Rhythm’ embodies the swing backward and forward and then we have,’ Cause & Effect’ or every effect has a spiritual seed that is nourished to sprout a specific effect and it explains that there is a cause for every action, and a spark for every cause.  Lastly, ‘Gender’ which manifest in everything and on all planes. ‘Mental Gender’  described as a hermetic concept which relates to the masculine and feminine principles. It does not refer to the physical gender of someone; nor does it suggest that someone of a certain physical gender necessarily has the same mental gender. Ideally, one wants to have a balanced mental gender. The three hermetic religious and philosophical doctrines are ‘The Corpus Hermeticum’, ‘The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus’, and ‘The Perfect Sermon’ and a less known one is  ‘Discourse of Isis to Horus’.

The study of these teachings have  been encapsulated in the human being for centuries. These principles can be found in a little book that goes by the name of ‘The Kybalion’. A book written in 1908, claiming to be the essence of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, published anonymously by a group or person under the pseudonym of ‘The Three Initiates’. The Kybalion first published in 1908 by the Yogi Publication Society and is now in the public domain, and can be found on the web. The book purports to be based upon ancient Hermeticism. The book early on, making the claim that it makes its appearance in one’s life when the time is appropriate and includes variations of material found in the book of proverbs. Freemasonry is on the same tree of brotherhood and is just one custodian of this wisdom. These principles can be unveiled with each initiate at his and or her proper time of advancement. Do not be the one of many,  that  will put a cap on top of their evolution; as they cut off experiences of divine proportions because they have been told it isn’t possible to transmute base metal into gold.

Universal Principles (Part 1)

Mystical knowledge and wisdom was passed down from the ancient of days to the present day, but many have eyes but do not see and ears and do not hear and they don’t remember the principles that govern us all including the universe. The Hermetic philosophy outlines the seven principles that lay the  foundation of hermetic thought which is said to have originated from Menkheperre Dhwty/Tehuti who was given many names that include; Thot and Hermes but in the west he is known as the Greek Hermes Trismegistus, “The thrice greatest Hermes.” An account of how Hermes Trismegistus received the name “Thrice Great” is derived from the The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus. It is stated that he knew the three parts of the wisdom of the whole universe. The three parts of the wisdom are alchemy, astrology and theurgy.

His rise ‘if he was a man at all’ was  in ancient Egypt/Khemet as the ancient wisdom God Dhwty. He played many roles in ancient khemet including maintaining the universe.  He was thus said to be the secretary and counselor of the sun god Ra. Hermes is alluded to in later Egyptian/Khemetic writings as “twice very great” and even as “five times very great” in some demotic or popular third century B.C. To him was attributed as “scribe of the gods” the authorship of all sacred books which were thus called “Hermetic” by the Greeks. Thus, according to Clemens Alexandrinus, were forty-two(sacred) in number and were sub-divided into six portions, of which the first dealt with priestly education, the second with temple ritual, and the third with geographical matter. The fourth division treated of astrology, the fifth of hymns in honor of the gods and a textbook for the guidance of Kings, while the sixth was medical.

Hermetic philosophy  has greatly influenced the western esoteric tradition  and was considered to be of great importance during both the Renaissance and the reformation. Many believe that Hermes wrote all the ancient texts, including the most esoteric ones, including The Book of Breathings, which taught humans how to become gods. He was connected with the moon and thus was considered the ruler of the night. Hermes was also the teacher and helper of the ancient Egyptian trinity of  Aset, Ausar and Heru or also known as Isis, Osiris, and Horus; and it was under his instructions that Isis/Aset  worked her sacred love whereby she brought the slain Osiris/Ausar back to life who, then, actually wrote the “books of Hermes,” which, since their rediscovery in the fifteenth century have played a significant role in our culture.Hermes is Wisdom, and thus anything written through the inspiration of true wisdom is in actuality written by Hermes. The human scribe does not matter; certainly his name is of no significance. It is the thoughts ‘Thoth’ that flow through the human being and is written down by the scribe. What urges the candidate to knock at the door of a masonic temple?

By now you are asking what is the Hermetic philosophy or universal principles that we are governed by? The principles of truth are seven, this is the foundation of Hermetic philosophy.

1. The Principle of Mentalism.
2. The Principle of Correspondence.
3. The Principle of Vibration.
4. The Principle of Polarity.
5. The Principle of Rhythm.
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect.
7. The Principle of Gender.

Freemasonry  is a science with a group of custodians that perpetuates this wisdom and will keep the flame a-blaze and will not allow this flame to go out!

To Be Continued…

Did You Know?
The oldest Masonic organization for both men and women is the Int'l Order Of Freemasonry For Men And Women: Le Droit Humain, which was founded in Paris in 1893.
